Open Water Captains

Head Guide & Hall of Fame Angler, USCG Captain, Dale Stroschein
Perhaps Door County’s most recognized fisherman, Captain Dale Stroschein has been guiding the waters of Green Bay and the Door Peninsula for over 30 years. His unparalleled experience and enthusiasm for the sport of fishing is second to none. Much a perfectionist, Dale’s attention to small details has helped him to become the successful angler he is today.  15 years on the Walleye Tournament circuit and his induction into the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame put him at the very top tier of professional fishing guides.  The future is exciting for Captain Dale as he is working on building his Wacky Walleye Elite Guiding team by mentoring these fine young individuals pictured below into building their own legacy as professional fishermen.  Each year, Dale gets a new Nitro ZV21 & in the 2019 guide season, he will be powered by a 350hp Mercury Verado. Hold on to your hats, folks.  It’s going to be a great ride!

USCG Captain, Marc Jackson

We are honored to have a military veteran on our guide team! Captain Marc proudly served our country from June 2006-April 2015 in the US Army-Infantry division.  Marc is a disciplined and capable guide who has an amazing way with people.  Along with guiding, Marc continues his love for walleye fishing by competing in both NWT and AIM tournaments currently.  Marc guides out of a 2017 Nitro ZV21 powered by a 350 Mercury Verado.  Marc is a full-time guide with Wacky Walleye and is also a licensed ice fishing guide.  Don’t let that burly beard and stern look fool you-Marc is quick with a joke and makes sure all his customers are having a great time!

USCG Captain, Dave Olson

Captain Dave Olson has been fishing for most all of his life. With a passion for Walleye and Smallmouth Bass he caught the Muskie bug about 20 years ago and has spent a great deal of time fishing for the king of the freshwater ever since. From Green Bay, WI down south to Kentucky and Tennessee, north to Minnesota and Canada Dave has developed a knack for catching these fish. Green Bay / Sturgeon Bay offers anglers some of the best fishing anywhere in the country and Canada, with the average size fish reaching potential world record size. A professional photographer, videographer, artist and graphic designer he has been involved in the fishing industry for nearly 25 years is a seminar speaker and writer in the Musky fishing Industry. Fishing for Walleyes as soon as the ice is out early April, then targeting Smallmouth in early May and finally Muskies with the opener Memorial Day – Green Bay offers some of the best fishing anywhere. Spend a safe, fun, educational and entertaining day with Dave on the water – you won’t be disappointed!

USCG Captain, Caleb Zorn

Since he could walk, Captain Caleb has been completely consumed by the sport of fishing.  Caleb started as a First Mate AT THE YOUNG AGE OF NINE out of Kenosha Harbor, where he grew up.  He hit the ground running and never looked back.  Caleb started his career on the Wacky Walleye team in 2013 as an ice guide.  His ability, not only as an angler, but as a “people person” was quickly recognized.  We call him our “old soul” and we know you will enjoy your trip with Captain Caleb.  He is a patient and capable teacher and will ensure you have a great fishing trip in SE Wisconsin!  Caleb is running a Nitro ZV18 with a 200 hp Mercury Optimax.
